EFA Gallery presents The Forces, a solo exhibition of new paintings by Watson Mere. Created after a residency at Haiti Cultural Exchange, the works draw on Yoruba religion, West African Vodun, and Haitian Vodou. Using thick acrylic mixed with sugar, Mere builds textured surfaces where fire, ritual symbols, and spiritual references evoke ancestry, labor, and belief, while emphasizing symbolism and opacity over direct representation.
