The Individualism of Dona Nelson presents wall based and free standing paintings that examine gesture, material, and the physical conditions of painting. Working with acrylic, raw canvas, and cheesecloth, Nelson allows process to shape each work, revealing front and back surfaces and emphasizing painting as an object in space. The exhibition considers authorship, chance, and material responsiveness through varied forms and modes of display.
