Born in Washington, D.C., Burwell’s practice reflects a rich exploration of color, form, and the natural world, evolved over decades and rooted in her distinguished career as both creator and educator. The Journey highlights Burwell’s artistic transition from two-dimensional, painterly canvases to three-dimensional sculptural forms, expressed through her distinct abstract visual language.
