The Ramble presents a previously unseen series of photographs by Arthur Tress documenting a clandestine queer gathering place in Central Park in the late 1960s. Moving between candid observation and staged tableaux, the works depict desire, secrecy, vulnerability, and social ritual within an overgrown urban landscape. The photographs combine documentary and surrealist approaches to examine a hidden subculture at the threshold of visibility and risk.
