The Shudder, conceived by artist Jane Bustin, pairs paintings by Bustin, Lewis Brander, Edwina Leapman, Gal Schindler, and Richard Serra with sculptural works from 2000 BC and the 14th and 18th centuries, set through a 1790s Georgian townhouse. The show centers on the “shudder,” a bodily response to an overwhelming encounter with art, and on the unspoken connections between artists past and present.
