The Strange Bird Whose Nest I Am In at The Painting Center presents seven new works by Matthew Sepielli. Using materials from casein and copper to photo prints and fabric dye, he creates richly tactile surfaces that demand direct encounter. Drawing from folklore, historical disasters, personal history, Abstract Expressionism, Dada, and Hugo Ball, Sepielli envisions the series as a visual concept album—seven distinct yet interconnected compositions.
