Tsai Yun-Ju: the sun never sets presents large-scale paintings that fuse global abstraction with playful, cartoonish imagery. Her expressive brushwork intensifies, engaging with Takashi Murakami’s “superflat” while exploring how cultural memory and popular visual culture mediate our experience of nature. Drawing on her gongbi training, Tsai deconstructs and reassembles landscape painting with a cubist narrative approach. Her works combine vibrant colors, dynamic brushstrokes, and fluid spatial relationships, creating an energetic, evolving visual experience.
