Through the Thick and Thin is an exhibition of new paintings by Stan Kaplan that expand his established floral practice into landscape, all-over composition, and abstraction, building layered surfaces through grace, accident, and struggle. The exhibition takes its title literally and metaphorically. The material experience of thick and thin paint, and the harder-won completions that emerge from it, become a way of navigating chaos in the studio and in the world beyond.
