Mel Kendrick: Tilt presents new and recent painted wood sculptures and cast paper works spanning Kendrick's ninth solo exhibition with David Nolan Gallery. Working without preparatory sketches, Kendrick develops ideas directly in the material — cutting geometric forms from solid wood blocks and reassembling them atop hollowed bases, linking interior and exterior in vertical conversation. Every cut, misstep, and errant chainsaw mark remains visible, each work a timeline of its own making. Cast paper works extend this logic further, pulverized wood becoming the paper that holds impressions of its carved whole.
