Arthur Levine’s paintings depict solitary performers drawn from personal and cultural memory, including figures such as a mime, Mephistopheles, a cowboy, and a Prussian general. Marked by vigorous brushwork and dense impasto, the canvases present the artist as both actor and author within a charged pictorial space. This is his 25th solo exhibition. His work is held in major museum collections.
