Installation view, William T. Carson: Time Out of Time, Nuart, Santa Monica, 2026
William T. Carson’s *Time Out of Time* explores the tension between human experience and deep geologic time. Working primarily with coal formed from plants millions of years ago, Carson pairs the material with mica, clock imagery, and an ancient water-clock form. As water drips onto coal, the works transform time into something physical, connecting fleeting moments with processes unfolding across millions of years.
