Tōgei: Contemporary Japanese Ceramics traces Japan’s ceramic tradition from functional ware to sculpture. Curated by Hollis Goodall, about eighty works are grouped by flower vessels, tea utensils, sake ware, dining ware, incense burners, boxes and pure sculpture, showing how potters tied to tea, ikebana and cuisine pushed clay toward personal expression.
