Toward Ourselves in an Unknown is a solo exhibition by Michael Childress presenting graphite drawings, stained composite panels, and a collaborative bench. The works draw from abstract spatial models and references to light, perception, and physical forces, using geometry, color transitions, and material structure to consider how experience takes shape over time. Panels foreground the relationship between image and object, while the bench extends these concerns into the gallery space.
