This exhibition presents works from the Whitney’s collection and recent acquisitions to trace key developments in American art from 1900 to the early 1980s. Addressing landscape, memory, popular culture, mass media, and abstraction, it also highlights Felix Gonzalez-Torres’s “Untitled” (America), reflecting on shifting visions of the nation.
