Trương Công Tùng: Wake, mayfly… [Thức dậy, phù du…] brings together lacquer paintings, drawings, and a commissioned sculptural installation across four interrelated bodies of work conceived as a breath and a dream. Vietnamese lacquer — built through layering and erosion, revealing hidden images through sanding — becomes a data center of organic and found materials: eggshells, soil, gold leaf, termite wings. The sound-emitting installation When Nothingness Becomes an Echo of Something animates objects with sensors responsive to proximity, evoking deities hidden in inanimate things. Throughout, fragmentation — like dust drifting from Vietnam's war histories — becomes a starting point for healing.
