War Goes Straight to Their Tummies” is a group exhibition that explores the concept of Abjection, drawing from a mistranslation of the French phrase “la guerre porte aux ovaires” in Julia Kristeva’s Power of Horror: An Essay on Abjection. The phrase, which translates more accurately as “women in wartime,” was once misinterpreted as “war goes straight to the tummies” — a visceral, bodily reconfiguration that speaks to the physicality of trauma, miscommunication, and interpretation
