Wifredo Lam: When I Don’t Sleep, I Dream is the first U.S. retrospective to span the full scope of Lam’s six-decade career. Featuring over 150 works, it traces his journey from Cuba to Europe and back, highlighting his response to colonialism, fascism, and exile. Merging human, animal, and plant forms, Lam drew from Afro-Caribbean culture to create powerful visual languages rooted in decolonization and spiritual depth, forging a path that reshaped modern art.
