Yoshitomo Nara’s first major New York solo show in nearly a decade spans two Chelsea galleries. Works from the 1980s join 2026 paintings of his big-headed, wide-eyed figures—which he sees as self-portraits—now in muted, layered color, plus large monochrome oil-stick drawings. At 19th Street, thirteen enlarged white-coated bronze heads recall the snow “monsters” of his rural childhood.
