YOU WERE HERE generates a real-time, hidden portrait of every visitor who enters. Built on a generative model trained on artist Gregory Moncada's own work, the piece reads each person's body and movement, composing a living image shaped entirely by their presence in the room. No one ever sees the whole picture while they're inside it: two narrow strips of LED reveal only fragments of a much larger composition happening just out of view. The full image appears only once, printed, at the moment they leave, their own private record of what their presence made. But every interaction also becomes part of something larger: each visitor's movement is layered into a single evolving artwork built from everyone who passed through, an accumulating portrait of a room, and a show, made entirely by the people who were in it.
