Hsieh Yu-Cheng is an artist based in Taiwan whose practice includes light and spatial installations. His work focuses on how the illusionary mechanisms of images construct the meaning and reality of viewing.
In his fluorescent spatial installations, he frequently reconstructs sites of “illusion,” exploring sensation and cognition to understand the internal states of phenomena and reflecting on the contradictions of self-identity and belonging. Recently, he has expanded his concepts into site-specific works that encompass space, landscape, and participatory projects.
