Zones and Projections by collaborative team Ficus Interfaith (Ryan Bush and Raphael Martinez-Cohen) occupies two floors of Tower 49. Seven terrazzo paintings shaped as historic map projections—including Mercator, Dymaxion, and Cahill Butterfly—treat maps not as navigational guides but as documents of distortion and political subjectivity. Upstairs, 38 clocks representing real time zones expose the social forces that have bent time itself into a tool of trade and power. The exhibition explores the uncertainties and inadequacies of humankind’s attempts to grapple with the four dimensions of physical reality.
