Jools Rothblatt (b. 1991, Los Angeles) is a painter whose work captures the tragic comedy of contemporary life through raw, expressive figurative scenes. Drawing on the atmosphere of Los Angeles bars, diners, neighborhood signage, and everyday social rituals, Rothblatt creates psychologically charged paintings populated by unruly bodies and unstable encounters. Influenced by artists such as Chaim Soutine, Philip Guston, Lee Lozano, and Otto Dix, her work combines humor, vulnerability, and unease. Rothblatt earned a BFA from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago and lives and works in Los Angeles.
