Dream Girl, Tschabalala Self’s first solo gallery exhibition in Los Angeles, presents new paintings and sculptures exploring femininity and identity as constructed experiences. Installed as an immersive mind map, the works offer vignettes into the inner lives of Self’s protagonists. Known for her dynamic mix of fabric and paint, Self draws from the charged atmosphere of Los Angeles to deepen her investigation into selfhood, emotional space, and the black female figure.
