Auxier Kline presents “Hitchhike from Saginaw,” Samuel Guy’s second solo exhibition. Inspired by American road movies, Guy portrays mythic American men through self-portraits, adopting historic portrait conventions while exploring identity, performance, and cultural archetypes. Each work balances tenderness, irony, and introspection, examining the fragments of Americanness and the roles we inhabit, with Guy embodying hero, parody, and everyman.
