Jackie Castillo’s first institutional solo exhibition at ICA LA features film photography, sculpture, and installation examining city infrastructure, memory, and working-class immigrant experience. Her fragmented images on materials like tiles and bricks reflect displacement and gentrification. A new installation using rooftop shingles, made with her father, highlights the divide between laborers and residents, while preserving cultural and familial knowledge amid ongoing change.
