Self-Made: A Century of Inventing Artists

Founded in 1961, the American Folk Art Museum celebrates the creativity of self-taught artists whose talents have been refined through personal experience rather than formal training. With a collection of more than seven thousand works spanning four centuries and nearly every continent, the museum presents critically acclaimed exhibitions, publications, educational programs, and community outreach with the mission of shaping the understanding and appreciation of folk and self-taught art across time and place.
