The George Adams Gallery presents Aggressive Women, Katherine Sherwood’s portraits of female saints and dominatrixes made from 1977–2025. First shown in 1982, the 70+ works confront puritanical ideals, merging Sherwood’s early feminist iconography with punk influences. Revisited decades later, she “cripped” the figures—adding prosthetics, canes, and wheelchairs—intertwining her experience with disability and feminist self-discovery.
