Perrotin Los Angeles presents Bosch Beasts, a solo exhibition by Roberto Benavidez, marking the artist’s first gallery solo in the city. Working in the piñata tradition, Benavidez reimagines creatures from Hieronymus Bosch’s The Garden of Earthly Delights and other sources, transforming their allegories of sin into hybrid beings that reflect humor, history, and identity. Infused with references to religion, colonialism, and personal experience, his fantastical forms explore hybridity, queerness, and the fluidity of race.
